Pointe South Mountain Resort and Spa and the Phantom Horse Golf Club
Golf and Ski Vacations says, All inclusive resort with its own award winning golf, it doesn't get much better

Cradled at the base of South Mountain and surrounded by a magnificent desert palette of cactus, desert flowers, and palms, the Pointe South Mountain Resort presents a uniquely Arizona experience. Located on 220 acres adjoining South Mountain Park, Pointe South Mountain Resort is the largest all-suite resort in the Southwest, with 640 suites, 115,000 square feet of meeting space, the Phantom Horse Golf Club, Phantom Horse Athletic Club and Spa, Phantom Horse Tennis, Oasis Water Adventure Park and four uniquely themed dining establishments. This luxurious resort destination offers world-class amenities, intimacy, and exquisite personal service.
Pointe South Mountain Resort is centrally located less than 10 minutes from Sky Harbor International Airport, and within 15 minutes from downtown Phoenix, downtown Scottsdale, downtown Tempe. Resort guests are also only minutes from area sports complexes, shopping, and nightlife.

Pointe South Mountain Resort has received numerous awards, including:

* Top All-Suite Resort Company in the Nation, Business Travel News
* Best Weekend Getaway in the Valley, Arizona Republic

"Decorated with muted colors and natural desert textures that celebrate the spirit of the Southwest, the richly appointed one-bedroom suites at Pointe South Mountain Resort are so inviting,
it's hard not to linger in our room and contemplate how to spend the day. In the living room of our suite, an executive work desk, fully stocked wet bar and refrigerator create a comfortable work environment where I can finish up on a few last-minute work details. Then, the spacious bedroom, with its hand-crafted armoire and dresser, offers striking panoramic views of Arizona's gorgeous sunsets. Maybe next time we'll check into one of the resort's concierge level suites or splurge on one of the 10 presidential suites or the West Pointe Penthouse, which also sound incredible."

With an award-winning 18-hole course at Phantom Horse Golf Club, I'm ready to tee off every day. The scenic Phantom Horse Golf Club really showcases the beauty of the surrounding Sonoran desert, and the mountainside elevated tees offer dramatic views of the stunning landscape. The new island green on the 18th hole was incredible and very challenging! I wasn't surprised to find out that the Phantom Horse Golf Club was awarded Four Stars in Golf Digest's 2002 Places to Play and named as one of the magazine's top 50 "Great Service" golf facilities in the nation."

Spanning 6,211 yards, the course presents various blind shots, chip shots and elevated shots, blending a traditional links layout with some of the best target golf in the Southwest. The club's sister course, The Raven at South Mountain, is ranked in the top 20 in the state, so later this week I may try a round over there, too, or at one of the other nearby courses."

Phantom Horse Golf Course

The name comes from a mythical White stallion the head of a wild mustang herd of the Sonoran chaparral. The story goes that the stallion still roams the South Mountain foothills and if you are out on the last green as dusk is falling you might just get a glimpse of him just before the ball drops into the can.

The $30 million alterations have made an already exciting course even better. The improvements extend the course to a par 71 and overall yardage of more than 6,300 yards. Phantom Horse is a blend of Spanish Mediterranean flavor of the Pointe South Mountain Resort and the desert terrain of the South Mountain Reserve. A verdant semi tropical landscape and water features highlight the front 9. Horseman's island has water running the length of the fairway presents a daunting risk. The back 9 is definitely a desert experience with rocky outcrops to negotiate on the path to the greens.

Phantom Horse Spa

"The peaceful surroundings of the desert may have me relaxed, but I thought I'd go one step further and spend some quality time at the Phantom Horse Athletic Club & Spa. Not only does the three-level facility offer a full-service spa and salon, but there's also indoor racquetball courts, an indoor basketball court, indoor golf instruction, an outdoor lap pool, 6 Plexi-paved lighted tennis courts, an outdoor sand volleyball court and an extensive, state-of-the-art fitness center. I was thinking I'd leave the kids at the child care center while I take in a step aerobic or yoga class, then reward myself with a rejuvenating Swedish massage. Maybe later we'll all go on one of the club's organized hikes, too. Since the resort is just adjacent to the city's largest municipal park, there are more than 60 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails to enjoy. With the club's philosophy that advanced integrated training can assist in a lifetime of healthy advances, I'm hoping to pick up some health and fitness advice that I can also use when I return home."

"My life has been so scattered lately that when I heard The Phantom Horse Spa prides itself in helping you restore balance to your life, I decided to schedule an appointment or two. The comfortable surroundings make "spaing" a treat for even the most inexperienced spa-goers--like me. With seven massage rooms and one wet treatment room, the spa offers a variety of pampering services, including such signature treatments as the Sedona Mud Purification, Stone Massage, Four Layer Facial and Desert Botanical Wrap. I think I may even visit the salon for a manicure and pedicure, too. After all, pampering is what a spa visit is all about."

"With six restaurants to choose from without even having to leave the resort, whatever I'm craving is on the menu at Pointe South Mountain Resort. Yesterday, we were in the mood for authentic Mexican food and had the best Mexican food we've ever had at Aunt Chilada's. We couldn't leave without sampling the Southwestern far we'd heard so much about so we had breakfast at Phantom Horse Grill - their crunchy French toast is out of this world! That night we cut into a succulent steak at Rustler's Rooste in a true western setting right down to the saw dust on the floors! And, of course, we loved watching the sun set while sipping a Shark Attack at The Oasis Bar & Grill. The toughest decision we had to make all weekend was where to eat next!"
