STONERIDGE GOLF
CLUB
Nestled in the heart of Northern
Arizona, StoneRidge Golf Course offers players scenic views and
more than 350 feet of dramatic elevation changes from lowest green
to highest tee. At 5,200-feet elevation, the 7,052-yard, par-72
golf club is carved in the stone ridges and boulder outcroppings
of Prescott Valley close to Sedona and is landscaped with ponderosa
and pinon pine, scrub oak, native grasses and wild flowers and
highlighted with granite rock formations and deep desert washes.
Designed by golf course architect Randy Heckenkemper, StoneRidge offers both beauty and challenge through its unique desert/mountain course design. When planning the course, Heckenkemper examined the layout of each hole to make StoneRidge player-friendly, while preserving the natural washes and boulder formations that give the area its character and challenge.
The StoneRidge clubhouse was designed by Les Partch and is scheduled to open to the public at the same time as the golf course, offering guests a comfortable grille, golf shop and banquet facilities.
Open since the Summer of 2002, StoneRidge
offers a limited number of club memberships. Located just 45 minutes
from Sedona and a little more than an hour from Phoenix, the course
makes for a quick retreat to the cooler temperatures of Northern
Arizona's high country. The course also offers members and tournament
participants the GPS Yardage System by ProLink.
If StoneRidge were a roller coaster, it would have 5 loops, a
9-story freefall and a pretzel twirl. Simply put, StoneRidge is
an "E" ticket ride. StoneRidge, Arizona's newest golf
course, is located in Prescott the golf course careens through,
around and among rock outcroppings, native grasses and pinion
pines, all the while maintaining playability for golfers of all
levels.
Stretching more than 7,000 yards from the black tees, StoneRidge plays to a par-72. The course, however, plays a bit shorter thanks to Prescott Valley's 5,200 foot elevation. Fans of classical design are certain to appreciate the collection of holes at StoneRidge, especially the back nine with emphasis on holes 12 through 15. Hole 12, a medium to long par-3, is where StoneRidge lives up to its name. The hole is framed by pockets of boulders, rocks and ridges that serve as a gallery for your targeted approach to the green. The 13th hole, measuring 373 yards from the back tees, begins with a scenic elevated tee shot overlooking the fairway and green on the other side of an arroyo. From this vantage point, the entire hole unfolds. Grab a good look at the hole; because once you've hit your tee shot, the green becomes partially obscured from view, thanks to a distinctive sloping fairway.
The 14th and 15th holes, both par-4's, test your driving ability and accuracy. Hit the fairways here and you've won the battle. Miss them, and you're in for a challenge. Redeem yourself on hole 16, a long and relatively flat par-5 where reaching the green in two isn't out of the question as long as you keep your ball on the short grass. Holes 17 (a short par 3) and 18 (a 600 yard par 5) round out a superb finish at StoneRidge.
One of the most attractive aspects of StoneRidge is its very affordable price. The golf course is complete with a full-service clubhouse featuring a 1,000 square foot golf shop, cozy bar & grille, expansive patio and banquet facilities. StoneRidge was developed by SunCor Golf, the same company who brought us the spectacular SunRidge Canyon Golf Club in Fountain Hills, the Sedona Golf Resort and Sanctuary Golf Course in Scottsdale (another Heckenkemper design).
"Our goal from the outset was to create a thrilling, beautiful and challenging golf course that folks could afford to play again and again. It's as simple as that," said Director of Golf Dale Samar. "I think we've accomplished our goals and have created an ideal golf experience in Prescott Valley. I hope that everyone who plays here enjoys what we have to offer." StoneRidge is an exhilarating golf course complete with drama and reward. A thrill ride of golf, StoneRidge is as exciting as it is beautiful.
