SUNRIDGE
CANYON GOLF CLUB
Golf and Ski Vacations
Says: Absolutely one of the best golf courses in Arizona)!
At SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, golf isn't
merely a sport. It's an adventure. The course is hidden among
the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains,
widely considered one of the most picturesque and dramatic stretches
of natural land left in the Southwest. The beauty and challenge
of this golf experience has made SunRidge Canyon one of the most
highly rated Golf clubs in Arizona. It was selected No. 42 on
Golf Magazine's list of "The Top 100 Courses you Can Play
in the United States," has been chosen by Arizona tournament
players as the top-ranked daily-fee golf club, and was the host
of the 1997 USGA State Team Championship.
Here you'll be drawn into the heart of the desert, playing on
lush fairways hidden between steep canyon walls. The front nine
plays downhill into the canyon that gives the golf course its
name. The back nine plays uphill, climbing more than 300 feet
in elevation. Meandering among the towering rock outcroppings,
giant saguaro cactus, and deep natural ravines, SunRidge Canyon
Golf Club is an intimate setting sheltered from other players
and the distractions of the outside world.
An Inviting Desert Retreat.

Golf at SunRidge Canyon
is the way the game was intended. Its natural, strategic desert
design is tempting for players of every level. It is a true "adventure",
where subtle changes in topography give the course a dramatic
effect. Each shot demands careful consideration of both risk and
reward, and your success depends entirely on how skillfully you
make these decisions.
SunRidge Canyon installed the Golf Logix system in May 2001, making it the first golf course in the country to offer this advanced GPS-based technology.
Nature played a profound role in the development of SunRidge Canyon Golf Club. Designed by Keith Foster, it is a 6,823-yard, par-71 layout with non-returning nines. Your golf adventure begins at the upper mouth of the canyon and descends switch-back style to the canyon floor. Along the way, the golf course follows the rugged natural terrain of stony ridges, rock outcroppings and secluded hollows. Because the fairways are not parallel, players enjoy a true sense of serenity and oneness with the golf course. Don't let this tranquil desert setting fool you. This course's rare beauty tests every aspect of your game.
The authentic warmth and charm of the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's clubhouse make it the ideal place to begin and end your golf adventure. The captivating design of the 18,000-square-foot SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's Clubhouse is true to its heritage. Built to resemble a large Spanish hacienda from Arizona's territorial days, the clubhouse provides a full-service golf shop, men's and women's locker facilities, and a conference room. The award-winning clubhouse is also home to The Ridge Room, where golfers, Fountain Hills residents and people from around the Valley of the Sun come to marvel at the views while enjoying inspired dishes, many of which showcase the zest and flavor of the Southwest.
The 17th Hole at SunRidge Canyon is truly one of a kind. Only here can a golfer play a 209-yard par three over a boxed canyon one day, then play a 152-yard par three off an elevated tee the next day.
SunRidge Canyon designer Keith Foster actually happened upon the elevated tee shot during the construction of the golf course. While touring the 17th hole, Foster arrived at what would soon be the Canyon set of tees. At the time, he wasn't even thinking about adding a second set of tees. Foster loved the way the hole set up and the incredible views it would eventually provide golfers. He walked some 300 yards, along the mountain ridge that borders the 17th hole, and came to an elevated point on the ridge. It was there he discovered a second area that presented an equally spectacular view of the surrounding mountains, yet set up dramatically different from the Canyon set of tees. Soon after Foster's discovery, construction began on the second set of tees, the SunRidge Tees.
From the Canyon Tees, the 17th's massive
green sits as a 7,000-square-foot target which is accessible only
after carrying a 50-foot-deep, 100-yard-wide box canyon. From
the SunRidge Tees, the diminutive green sits as a 3,000-square-foot
target with a wide open shot off an elevated tee box and no forced
carries. The hole's unique horseshoe-shaped green lends itself
to receiving shots from either tee box and presents golfers with
challenging putts from either direction.
