THE WIGWAM GOLF RESORT

Nestled in the village of Litchfield Park, Arizona, the legendary Wigwam Resort is located on 463 acres, just 20 minutes west of downtown Phoenix and 25 minutes west of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

For 70 years, exceptional golf has long been a hallmark of The Wigwam experience. Earning some of the industry's most prestigious accolades, including Golf Magazine's Silver Medal Award and Golf Digest's Top Resort Course in Arizona. The Wigwam is considered one of the premier golf resorts in the US. It's the only resort in Arizona to boast three championship golf courses, two of which were designed by Robert Trent Jones,Sr. Its famed Gold Course is consistently ranked among the nation's finest courses. The Gold Course is the best known, featuring classic Jones design with narrow fairways, small landing areas, elevated tees and strategically placed bunkers. This course currently ranks as Arizona's number one on Golf Digest's list of Arizona's Best.

The Wigwam Resort offers more quality golf than any resort in the region. It's the only resort in Arizona that offers 54 holes on three challenging golf courses within its own property

At the resort the activity choices are wide and deep. Tennis courts, heated pool with the water slide. Horseback riding, trap and skeet shooting, or biking and walking the meandering trails provide abundant exercise. Children will enjoy Camp Pow-Wow, sand volleyball and the popular playground.

Close at hand, you can river raft, bounce along on desert jeep tours, and hike in the nearby mountains. Both Phoenix and Scottsdale are convenient distances, providing a relaxed urban atmosphere to satisfy even the most dedicated shopper and explorer.

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

Little did Henry Ford know when he started mass-producing automobiles that his actions would inadvertently create a legendary, award-winning resort, The Wigwam. When Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company discovered that cotton extended the life of the tire, the company purchased 16,000 acres of land in 1916 to begin cultivating. In 1918, Goodyear built a private company lodge for visiting executives. It wasn't long before many of these visitors realized this to be an unsurpassed vacation destination and fondly dubbed the lodge, "The Wigwam." The facilities expanded to accommodate 24 guests and opened to the public in November 1929. A portion of the original structure remains as the cornerstone of the resort's authenticity and southwestern charm. Considered one of the premier golf resorts in the country, The Wigwam has earned numerous accolades and awards including the prestigious Mobil Four Star and AAA Four Diamond Awards.

THE GOLF COURSES

THE GOLD COURSE, measuring nearly 7,200 yards, was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The most famous of The Wigwam courses, the Gold Course has been consistently rated as one of the top resort courses in the nation, earning Golf Magazine's Silver Medal Award and one of the top resort courses in Arizona by Golf Digest. It offers nearly twice the acreage as most desert courses built today and features elevated greens, narrow landing areas, elongated tees and strategically placed bunkers and water hazards.

THE BLUE COURSE, also designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., plays to 6,112 yards and roughly follows the hole routing of The Wigwam's original course. Although shorter in length than the Gold Course, the Blue course is just as challenging. Scoring well requires pinpoint accuracy and a strong understanding of golf strategy. Elevated greens with classic Jones bunkering will challenge your short game.

THE RED COURSE at 6,861 yards, is The Wigwam's most modern design. It was created by local golf legend Robert "Red" Lawrence and offers players an open, airy layout that is dotted with numerous lakes, rock filled creeks, and gigantic greens, with four finishing holes known to offer an exceptional challenge.

The Bird Golf Academy is the official golf school of the Wigwam Resort.
